Celebrate Irish Fest at the North Shore Library’s

Tuesday Movie Fest with the film Ondine.

August 21^st at 6 p.m.

 

Ondine is the story of Syracuse, a simple fisherman who catches a beautiful and mysterious woman in his trawler nets. The woman seems to be dead, but then she come alive before Syracuse's eyes, and he thinks he may be seeing things. However, with the help of his irrepressible daughter, Annie, he comes to believe that the fantastical might be possible and the woman (Ondine) might be a myth come true. Ondine and Syracuse fall passionately in love, but just as we think the fairytale might go on forever, the real world intercedes.

August 28^th Mexican Fiesta – Sleep Dealer: Set in the near-future three strangers risk their lives to break through the barriers of technology and change their fates.

September 11^th Indian Summer Festival – Smoke Signals: The story of two young Native Americans, Thomas and Victor, who leave their small town to retrieve the remains of Victor’s father.  **This movie is an adaption of Sherman Alexie’s short story “This Is What It Means to Say Phoenix, AZ” which is in the book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. Check it out from the library today!**

The two then journey on to Cape Town to begin rehearsals for Elvis's wedding to the beautiful Ayanda. But things don't always go according to plan. An appealing, feel-good movie about love, commitment, intimacy and friendship and the host of maddening obstacles that can get in the way of a happy ending.
